Where to Shop in Rawai, Phuket: My Favorite Local Shops, Cafés & Creative Places

After living in Phuket for 16 years—and spending the last 13 years in Rawai—I don't even have to think when someone asks me:

"Where should we go in Rawai besides the beach?"

Rawai has become my home.

Over the years I've watched little cafés open, met artists who became friends, and seen small family businesses grow into places that visitors return to year after year.

Whenever people stop by my jewelry studio and ask for recommendations, I rarely mention shopping malls or the usual tourist attractions. Instead, I tell them about the places that have become part of my everyday life.

These are the places I genuinely enjoy visiting, and I hope you'll enjoy them too.

Phuket Art Village

If I had to choose one place that represents the creative side of Rawai, it would be Phuket Art Village. This is where I spend most of my days. Every morning I walk through the gardens, say hello to the artists, and unlock the door to my jewelry studio.

People often arrive expecting a small gallery, but they quickly discover it's much more than that. Painters, sculptors, photographers, workshops, exhibitions, peaceful gardens, and little corners where you can simply slow down for a while.

One of the things I love most is that every visit feels different. There's always a new painting, a different exhibition, or another artist happy to talk about their work.

Whenever friends visit Phuket, this is one of the first places I bring them.

Zodiac Phuket

My little studio is tucked inside Phuket Art Village. This is where every pendant, bracelet, and gemstone necklace begins its journey.

Some visitors stop by just to browse the collection, while others decide to sit down and make their own piece during one of my jewelry workshops. Watching someone leave wearing jewelry they created themselves is still one of my favorite parts of the job.

Years later they'll probably forget what they had for lunch that day, but they'll remember making something with their own hands.

Nat's Crochet & Souvenirs

Whenever someone asks me where to buy a souvenir that doesn't look like everything else in Phuket, Nat's shop is one of the first places I recommend. It's one of those shops where you can happily spend time browsing because there's always something new to discover.

Alongside a lovely collection of souvenirs and thoughtful gifts, Nat creates beautiful handmade crochet toys that make wonderful presents for children—and, honestly, for adults too.

What many visitors don't know is that she also creates custom crochet clothing. If you're looking for something truly unique, she'll happily make a piece especially for you.

I love recommending Nat's because everything in the shop feels personal. You can tell every item has been made or chosen with care, and that's exactly what I enjoy supporting.

Baan Boho

If you like natural materials, bohemian style, and beautiful home décor, don't miss Baan Boho.

It's one of those shops where I always seem to discover something different.

Whether you're looking for a gift, a decoration for your home, or simply a little inspiration, it's easy to spend much longer here than you planned.

Fashion Factory

Even after all these years in Phuket, I still stop by Fashion Factory from time to time.

It's a great place for beachwear, dresses, casual clothes, and holiday outfits.

Visitors often realise they've forgotten to pack something, and this is usually one of the first places I recommend.

Sometimes it's simply nice to treat yourself to a new outfit while you're on holiday.

Wilson's Café

I've known the owner of Wilson's Café since my very first days in Phuket—more than ten years ago.

Over the years it has become much more than just somewhere to grab breakfast.

The breakfasts are excellent, the coffee is always good, and the atmosphere is exactly what I love about Rawai: relaxed, authentic, and quietly artistic.

One of my favourite details is the interior itself. Many of the wooden tables, decorations, and design elements were handcrafted by one of the artists from Phuket Art Village, giving the café its own unique character.

It's one of those places where you order breakfast, start chatting, and suddenly realise two hours have passed.

Ma Ha Lung Café

If you really enjoy coffee, I think you'll appreciate Ma Ha Lung Café.

This isn't the kind of place where coffee comes from a machine at the push of a button. The owner personally roasts his own coffee beans and prepares every single cup using a hand press. Watching him work is part of the experience.

Then you sit surrounded by paintings and sculptures created by local artists while enjoying one of the best cups of coffee in Rawai.

Trust me—you won't forget it.

Amsterdam Coffee Shop

If cannabis is part of your Phuket experience, Amsterdam Coffee Shop is definitely worth a visit. They have an impressive selection, but what I hear people talk about most is how well they look after their customers.

From your very first purchase you'll find generous bonuses, free gifts, and special offers that make it one of the best-value cannabis coffee shops in Rawai.

Why I Love Recommending Local Businesses

One of the reasons I still love living in Rawai after all these years is the people.

When you buy a painting, you can often meet the artist who painted it. When you pick up a crochet toy or a handmade souvenir, there's a good chance you'll meet the person who made it. When you visit my studio, you'll probably find me sitting at my workbench, wrapping silver wire around a gemstone while chatting with visitors from around the world.

That's what makes Rawai feel different. It's not about rushing from one attraction to another.

It's about slowing down, meeting passionate people, discovering places with real character, and taking home memories that mean a little more than something bought from a souvenir stand. If you find yourself in Rawai, I hope you'll take the time to explore beyond the beaches.

You never know what little place might become your favourite part of Phuket.
