Things to Do in Rawai Besides the Beach
When people plan a holiday in Phuket, they usually make the same list. Visit the beaches. Watch the sunset. Eat seafood.
And honestly, I think they should.
But every time someone visits my jewelry studio and asks, "What else is there to do in Rawai?" I realize how many wonderful places never make it into the travel guides.
The truth is, some of my favorite memories in Rawai have nothing to do with the beach.
They're about meeting artists, discovering little cafés, chatting with local business owners, finding handmade treasures, and slowing down long enough to notice the places hiding in plain sight.
So if you've already had your beach day, here's where I'd take you next.
Wander Around Phuket Art Village
This is probably my favorite place in Rawai, although I might be a little biased because it's where I work.
The first thing you'll notice isn't a big entrance or crowds of tourists. It's how peaceful everything feels.
Small artist studios are tucked between tropical gardens. You'll hear birds instead of traffic and often find artists painting, sculpting or chatting with visitors outside their studios.
One of the things I love most is that nobody is in a hurry. You don't have to buy anything.
You can simply walk around, enjoy the artwork, talk to the artists and see creativity happening right in front of you. Every visit feels a little different.
Meet the People Behind the Art
One thing I always tell visitors is this: Don't just look at the artwork. Talk to the artists.
You'll quickly discover that every painting, sculpture or handmade piece has its own story.
Some artists have lived in Phuket for decades. Others travelled here and never left.
Everyone has a different journey, and I think that's what makes Phuket Art Village so special.
Instead of buying something from a shelf, you meet the person who actually created it.
For me, that's what gives a souvenir its value.
Stop by My Jewelry Studio
If you wander through Phuket Art Village, you'll probably find me in my little studio, surrounded by silver wire and natural gemstones.
Some people come in looking for a gift. Others are curious about crystals. Quite a few simply want to chat. Those conversations are one of my favorite parts of the day.
I've met travelers from all over the world, and I love hearing their stories just as much as they enjoy hearing mine.
Sometimes people leave with a necklace. Sometimes with a bracelet. Sometimes they leave with nothing except a good conversation.
And honestly, I'm happy with all three.
Make Your Own Souvenir
One thing I've noticed over the years is that people often remember experiences more than purchases.
That's exactly why I started my jewelry workshops. Instead of taking home something made by someone else, you create your own pendant using sterling silver and a natural gemstone.
I've watched couples make matching necklaces, families create gifts for one another, and solo travelers discover a hobby they never expected to enjoy. Watching someone put on a pendant they made themselves is always one of the happiest moments in my day.
Take a Coffee Break
After walking around the village, I usually stop for coffee. If you love coffee as much as I do, don't miss Ma Ha Lung Café.
The owner roasts his own beans and prepares every cup by hand. Watching him work is almost as enjoyable as drinking the coffee itself.
It's not somewhere you rush. It's somewhere you sit, relax and enjoy the atmosphere.
Sometimes I look around and realize everyone is doing exactly the same thing—slowing down.
I think that's one of the reasons people fall in love with this place.
Discover Small Local Shops
One of the things I enjoy most about Rawai is that so many businesses are still independently owned.
If you have time, wander beyond the main road.
Visit Nat's Crochet & Souvenirs, where you'll find handmade gifts, beautiful crochet creations and unique souvenirs that you won't see in airport shops.
Pop into Baan Boho if you love relaxed island style and beautiful home décor.
If you're looking for beachwear or holiday clothes, Fashion Factory is always worth a visit.
And if you're ready for breakfast or a relaxed lunch, I never get tired of Wilson's Café. I've known the owner for years, and it's still one of my favorite places to sit, enjoy good food and watch the world go by.

End the Day by the Sea
Eventually, I always find my way back to the water.
Not because I feel like I have to.
Because it feels like the perfect ending to the day.
Whether you choose Rawai Seafront or Nai Harn Beach, grab a drink, sit down for a while and watch the sky change colours.
After a day filled with conversations, creativity and little discoveries, it's the perfect reminder that the best days in Phuket don't have to be packed with attractions.
Sometimes they're simply about enjoying where you are.
My Favorite Part of Rawai
People often ask me what makes Rawai different from other parts of Phuket.
I never answer with a beach. I tell them it's the people. The artist who invites you into their studio. The café owner who remembers your coffee. The shop where everything is handmade. The conversations you weren't expecting to have. Those are the moments I remember.
And if you ask me, they're the moments that turn a holiday into something you'll still be talking about long after you've gone home.
